What's for Breakfast?

The placemat was made from the leftover scraps from my Denim Block Quilt.

One hard fried egg on leftover boiled potatoes, that I pan fried before I fried the egg. It made them crispy on the edges.

Can a Pretty Plate Make Lunch Less Boring?

Take one cool plate. Add mandarin oranges around the edges of the plate and top it with a violet.

How about a striped plate and a violet?

Add the fried egg, potatoes, and oranges.
I love all the colors.  I love all the flavors. I love to play!  Five minutes of playing a day, makes me happier!
Take time to play!
Enjoy your day!

What's for Lunch Yesterday and Today?

 First I made a simple salad - about a 3 serving size.

 I love carrots!

I dumped out the sugar juice on the fruit. I live in Wisconsin and our choices of fresh fruits are small, so this is good fruit option for me.
The melon was on sale. I love fresh melon. It's a good choice for lunch.
I added about one serving of the carrot salad to a large bed of romaine lettuce. No extra dressing!
I had some leftover pasta chicken salad and a few slices of cheese for the protein part of my meal.
I got the plant just before St. Patty's Day for only $3.87 at our local grocery store.  It brightens up my day to have all the plants in my home.

Up close of the leaves.  The plant closes up at night - leaves and blossoms. It's really cool. Never had a plant like this.

 I love the little blossoms.

The berries in my water don't really add flavor, but they look cool!

OK, I couldn't eat it all, so put it all on one plate and saved it for a mid afternoon snack.
I drink all my water.  I saved the berries for the afternoon snack.

Today, I fried up 2 eggs and added a little shredded cheese, sliced a tomato, and had another helping of the carrot salad.

Some of my parsley was ready to pick. I added it to my lunch!
What did you have for lunch yesterday and today?
Enjoy!

What's for Lunch Today?

Leftovers:
chicken salad, cole slaw, and macaroni salad all mixed together to make one serving
topped with pecans
1 slice of muenster cheese
blackberries
1 glass of ice water
Place all the food on your plate. Put everything else back in the refrigerator, so you aren't tempted to have a second serving of anything.
Well, you can have more water!
Drink at least a 1/4 to 1/2 of the water before starting to eat. I usually drink 1/2 of the water first.
Eat a little bit of everything - slowly.  Enjoy your meal.
At this point make sure all of the water is gone or at least most of it. Save one or two blackberries to finish your meal with a sweet berry.
Eat the berry and finish all the water.
Do the dishes and you are done!
Why do I eat like this?

  • I need to relax during lunch time. Two years ago I would stand at the counter and eat my lunch and rush back to work. Never took a break.
  • I don't want to overeat, so that is why I set the food on the plate (and make it look pretty). Then I put away the other food before I start to eat.
  • I think food should look pretty - like a quilt!

Leftover Apple Slices and Peels for Breakfast

You saved the leftover apple slices from the Literally Delicious Turkey Sandwich with mandarin oranges to keep them from getting too brown.
Cut up the apples slices into small bit size or smaller pieces.  Add them to your oatmeal along with the mandarin oranges. If you don't like peels, don't save them and don't add them.  I love peels! Enjoy!
